James Lo is a trial lawyer and founder of the law office of James Lo, Esq., P.C, a Brooklyn-based personal injury law firm well-known in the Chinese-American communities throughout New York State for representing individuals injured in various types of accidents caused by the wrongdoing of others. James has received extensive media attention in The World Journal and Singtao Daily Chinese newspapers, and several of his cases have been featured in the New York Law Journal’s Top Verdicts as among the highest verdicts and settlements in New York State in their respective years.
James’ track record qualified him for membership in The National Trial Lawyers, Top 100 Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only professional organization that limits membership to the premier trial lawyers from across the United States, and in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization limited to less than 1% of the top trial lawyers in the country. James received the “Lead Counsel Rating in Personal Injury Law – Plaintiff” since 2015 by the Thomson Reuters Corporation, and he was named one of the Top Ten Personal Injury Attorneys in 2017 and 2018 by chineselawyersinfo.com, an attorney rating service focused on the New York City Chinese communities.
In addition, James served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at his alma mater, Hofstra University Maurice A. Deane School of Law, in the Foundational Lawyering Skills course required of all second year law students and which focuses on litigation skills.
James received his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in Hempstead, New York during which time he interned for the Honorable Dorothy Eisenberg of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of New York, and the Honorable Arthur Spatt of the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York, and where he served as President of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. James received his B.A., cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Columbia University in New York City.
Following law school, James joined a prominent Manhattan-based plaintiff’s personal injury law firm as an associate where he discovered his passion for representing persons injured by the negligence of others. He developed a strong reputation in the Chinese-American communities and many sought him out to represent them in their significant accident cases, one of which involved the wrongful death of a Chinese female college student during a clinical research trial which received significant international and national media attention. James had many other successes at that firm which resulted in millions of dollars in settlements and many satisfied clients.
James eventually founded his own firm which has evolved into the thriving practice that exists today. James’ core focus continues to be to fight for injured clients who cannot fight for themselves, and to treat them in the caring, compassionate and professional manner that they expect and deserve. James tells clients “I know this is your only case and that you depend on me. Therefore I will do everything I can to get the best possible result for you.” Due to his client-centered philosophy, James is proud to have hundreds of satisfied clients who refer to him their family and friends who have been involved in accidents and who demand caring, experienced and effective legal representation.
